Back-line Finds The Back of The Net: Last game, defender Casey Krueger earned her first goal of the season by heading the ball past Houston’s Jane Campbell. In her fourth game back from the Olympics, Krueger has shown that she is a key member of the team on both sides of the pitch. While showing her strength on the attacking half, Krueger has been a rock on the back-line with two blocks, 10 interceptions and 22 clearances.
A Tale of Four Goalies: This match will feature different goalies for both teams since the inaugural match of the NWSL’s 2021 Regular Season. In the previous matchup between the Red Stars and the Thorns, the starting goalies were Alyssa Naher and Adrianna Franch. With Naher sustaining an injury at the Olympics and Franch traded mid-season to Kansas City, Cassie Miller or Emily Boyd will face off against Bella Bixby for the first time this season. In terms of statistics, Miller and Bixby are closely matched with each playing in 10 games this season with Miller having 21 saves and 25 saves for Bixby.
