CHICAGO - The Chicago Red Stars host the Houston Dash this Sunday, July 11th at 5:00 pm CT as part of the team’s first-ever Go Green Game.

CHI: The Red Stars traveled to Segra Field to take on the Washington Spirit, beating them 1-0.

HOU: Jasmyne Spencer and Katie Naughton scored as the Houston Dash defeated OL Reign 2-0.


Storylines

Stars of the Summer: Chicago and Houston both will have their respective teams represented in this summer’s Tokyo Games as a total of 11 combined members from the two teams have been named to travel with the national team. Houston will be sending six players, two of which will play for Team USA (Kristie Mewis, Jane Campbell), three for Team Canada (Nichelle Prince, Allysha Chapman, Sophie Schmidt), and one for Great Britain (Rachel Daly). The Red Stars will be sending five to Tokyo including Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher, Tierna Davidson, Casey Krueger and trainer Emily Fortunato all traveling with Team USA.

CHI v HOU, Pt. 2: Sunday evening’s matchup between the Red Stars and the Dash will be the third time these two have played in 2021 and the second of three games to be played during the regular season. Houston played host to the Red Stars in their last matchup on May 29th, where Mallory Pugh scored in the fourth minute but Chicago would fall 2-1. That matchup came after their 2021 Challenge Cup opener.

CRS Goes Green: Sunday’s matchup will be the Red Stars’ first-ever Green Game, with programming aimed at bringing more awareness to living more sustainably in our community. The Red Stars kicked off the week with a park cleanup at the Lincoln Park Conservatory organized by the CRS Cares Foundation. On gameday, the team will be collecting lightly used soccer cleats and athletic shoes which will be donated to girls in Zimbabwe courtesy of MTC Educate a Girl. In addition, the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Red Stars branded reusable grocery bag, with a select few containing a “Ruby Ticket” that can be redeemed for autographed merchandise at Red Stars HQ.
